This book is the product of Gottman’s twenty years of study of 2000 couples. Gottman is a pioneer in his study of marriages and 6 the factors that are predictors of divorce. His work while not drawing on Christian values or ideas nonetheless has real value in describing destructive behaviors and patterns that deeply impact marriage. The value of this work is seeing what is wrong in the way you fight. Gottman’s solutions are practical ways to manage these problems but they do not get at the root issues or offer the healing and power that the gospel does.
